(Not the) Sale of the Century

This isn’t the big tool sale I hinted out a month or so ago (which is still on its way).  I need the new shed to be commissioned so I can sort through the machines and tools that will be going in there, and leave (and sell) those that are not.

In the meantime, I am still applying the same principle to other items around the house.  Last week I got rid of a 1000l water tank, and a small shed/bird aviary/cat run.  This week there will be some more items up, including this desk hutch.

More details via the eBay site. Auctions start at 0.99c (this one still is at the starting price).  Obviously I’d rather not sell it for 99c, but it will go for what the market decides it is worth!  I apply that same principle to anything else I sell on eBay as well.

Cannot keep a good brand down

No matter what happens in the workshop, nor what tools I have added over the years, I was out this afternoon doing a job, and realised the only tools I was using were Triton.  One being the Multistand, which gets used all the time – infeed, outfeed, work support etc.

The other, a tool I was really confused about when it first came out, and at the time it concerned me about the direction Triton were heading.  But nevertheless, the Triton Steel Cutter is one of those tools that you are always really pleased having for each and every job you use it on.

Today I started working on a cat run/shade area for the side of the house (might even look at what it’d take to produce a bit of a fernery , but conditions are probably not good enough), and using powder-coated fence steel to do it.  Having a dedicated steel cutter is making it really easy.  It may look like a dropsaw, but it isn’t a matter of putting a steel cutting blade on a standard dropsaw.  The steel cutter is geared down to ensure the blade is running at the right speed.

I made a video about it aways back – Episode 43.

Pretty sure these are not available anywhere retail, but you can still get them occasionally on eBay.  Sometimes new.  (There are 2 new ones on eBay at the moment for about $150.  They were originally about $400).  That’s if you are interested in one of course!  In the new workshop, I am actually hoping to have a corner where I can finally have it set up, rather than having to drag it out each time I want to use it.  Along with a few other metal working tools (not that I have an abundance of those).  Good for jig-making for one!  We shall see.

A storm is coming

More precisely, a whirlwind, a tornado, or perhaps that has already arrived looking at the workshop!

One of the opportunities that comes out of such a relocation, is things get reevaluated, cleaned up, and out.

Yes.  A sale is coming.

Not sure exactly what as yet, but there will be some recognisable names and brands amongst the items I have in mind.

Jet
Triton
Torque
Hitachi
Wixey
Carbatec
GMC

It will be interesting to see what comes of it all.

Spa Wars

I wasn’t originally planning on mentioning it here, but as the eBay sale fell through (original buyer reneged), I have to relist the spa pool I am selling (all part of the great cleanup!)

So if you are interested in a spa pool, and are somewhere in the vicinity of SE Melbourne, this one is available. Auction starting at 99c – more details over on eBay.

spa-5

There is also a 14′ above-ground swimming pool, but you’d better be quick – there is only 10 minutes left!

Do you want a Torque Workcentre?

No – seriously.  Have you seen all the footage I’ve made, read all the articles I’ve written and just wished you could afford one of these for yourself, but the $4000+ price tag has been just too much to be able to justify?

I have been approached, to sell, a near new (virtually unused) 2 metre Torque Workcentre, with a 900mm arm, and the usual collection of accessories that are normally optional extras.

The normal pricing is:

Torque Workcentre $3720

Drill attachment $55

Saw attachment $230

Copy attachment $180

Dust guard $110

Total of $4295.  But what will it actually sell for? $3500? $3000? less? How low may it go?

You’d have to pick it up from South-east Melbourne – it is fully assembled, and I am not wrapping it!

At this stage I will consider offers if you (as Stu’s Shed readers) are really, really keen to own one (and really, really quick to tell me), otherwise this may become the very first Torque Workcentre on eBay.

And no, before anyone asks: this is NOT my 2.5m Torque workcentre that sits in my workshop.  Hands off!!

Last of the Triton Tools

For this year’s auction – I will have a dig through the shed over the weekend to see what accessories I might have left of interest (still thinking about one of the two Superjaws I still have, and whether to sell a couple of the four multistands, and there are potentially some other parts I find).

I still also have some more moulding blades profiles for the 15″ thicknesser, but will wait to see what the first ones sell for.

Anyway, what I’ve just posted includes the Triton Spin Saw, Powered Respirator (including spare air supply module and face shield), Triton Rotary tool, and a GMC 2400W SCMS.

Ebay auction is here.  The first items posted a few days ago are now drawing to an end, so as Douglas Adams wrote “Last Chance to See” (and bid!)

“Please Sir, I want some more”

More for 99c on Ebay.  Getting through it – still some large items to list, but it is all in the name of trying to preserve some working space!!  Must be some temptations in there!

“All of these things are just like the others, all of these things are exactly the same”

So just what does a Triton Spin Saw, Triton 8″ Bandsaw, Minolta Camera Lens, Camera Bag, Triton Wetstone Sharpener, GMC SCMS, Triton 15″” Thicknesser Moulding Blades, Camera Filters all have in common? (And this list is by no means complete).

They are all being listed today and over the next few days, and potentially week or two by me on eBay, all starting at 99c.

So far there is a camera bag, Triton thicknesser impeller, Triton Biscuit Barrel, and soon (tonight) a couple of Triton 15″ Thicknesser Moulding blades (I have a dozen or so different profiles, but will only sell the majority if these first two sell for a reasonable price).

Much more to come (big and small!)

Spring Clean

Been Spring Cleaning the shed, and funnily enough, it is actually Spring.  Having the recommissioned dust system has been a big influence on this, and has been very beneficial.  The combination of the Carbatec dust ducting kit, the Rockler blast gate mounts, and the flexible concertina hose from Carbatec has made for a system that is very suited to shed cleanup.  It has also been working well for the bandsaw and tablesaw – it will be interesting to see how it works when I try some jointing and planing (the most sawdust intensive operations).

It has included a significant sort out of the wood stores in the shed, and a bit of a realisation that there is quite a bit of value in timber out there.

I’m also realising that it is time for the Jet 14″ bandsaw to be relocated to the other (storage) shed, as I don’t have the space to justify 2 bandsaws in the main shop.  That is one step off disposal, so it is a big move.  There isn’t enough room in the lower shed for it to fit yet, so it is time for a shed (eBay) cleanout.  I’ve already started a small pile of items to include:

Triton Cordless Drill
Triton 8″ Bandsaw
Triton Wetstone Sharpener
Triton 185mm Circular Saw
(there is a bit of a theme happening here)
10″ SCMS (double bevel w dual laser)
Air Compressor

Unfortunately there is not enough in that collection to substitute it all for what I’d actually like to replace it with (yet) – a Festool Kapex 120 from Ideal Tools.

Might be able to get a Tradie-O in the meantime ;)

Triton Gear for Sale (not mine)

Don’t want to deal with companies selling their Triton tools on Ebay?  One regular reader of Stu’s Shed is selling off a number of Triton tools that are still new-in-box (and these are unopened boxes so they really do have all the parts, unlike some other sellers).

Follow this link to his list of available Triton tools

On offer are:

Powered Saw Table – currently at $30
Router Table – currently at $0.99
Router Table Stand – currently at $0.99
