When dust bags turn bad

Who knows what drives a dust bag to a life of crime, of living on the darker side of life, of resenting their role and walking away from their responsibilities.

Whatever it is, the results are very obvious if and when your dust bag turns bad.

sorry to see the mess your in.
probably happened because the bage it stretched too much as the dust filled. i usually made sure that the bag is barely caught on the ring.
this is one of the reasons i went with a pre seperater.
this is one of the draw backs to having the dc in another shed

    • Prob more to do with the rat or possum that ate a chunk of the bag!

    • I have a similar set up to yours but change the bag every 6 months ( plastic ). Note, change the bag, not empty it! Empty can vary from twice a day to once a week depending on workload.
I use FEDEX plastic letter bags which are strong enough to hold any type of planer shavings either wet or dry, big enough to sit on the base yet have enough room to take in the extra from the top bag when I forget to check if it is full or not when unloading.
How old are your bags to have them split?

  3. Yes when it’buried in the other shed.*#!+ happens! Regular timed visits…no surprises!

  4. Hi Stu, I notice with interest your plastic pipe duct along the wall fo the dust extraction. I’ve been trying to locate some 100mm o/d for some time. What size do you use and whats its availability?

    • Hi Tony

I just use standard down pipe from Bunnings/Masters. The fittings provide plenty of options running the extraction around the shop (see a post of men from a year or so ago), and then it is close enough to adapt to fit the standard dust system.

Carbatec also sell a clear system I have used in part of the shop as well.

The down pipe and fittings from the plumbing section are a very cheap option (I think it is actually 90mm (ID?))
